DAILY FILE – At least seven people are dead after a cargo plane crashed and exploded into flames just feet from houses in central Iran.
The Boeing 707 went down west of the capital Tehran after “mistaking the airport with another airfield because of the bad weather”, according to reports.
Rescuers were combing through the smouldering wreckage in the search for victims.
Seven bodies have been found so far.
Reports said up to 16 people on board the aircraft when it crashed near Fath airport in the central Iranian province of Alborz, and everyone on board was feared dead.
It was not immediately clear who owned the plane.
A spokesman for Iran’s civil aviation told state TV that the plane belonged to Kyrgyzstan.
