DAILY FILE – Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State will contest for the Chairmanship of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), DAILY FILE, can authoritatively report.
According to multiple sources, El-Rufai and Ekiti state governor, Kayode Fayemi want to be the next chairman of the Governors’ Forum, a position currently occupied by Abdulaziz Yari, the outgoing governor of Zamfara State.
Governor Fayemi who was first sworn in in October 2010 was said to banking on the national leader of the All Progressive Congress,APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to clinch the position.
It further leant that both governors have embarked on underground consultations with their colleagues and other stakeholders to garner support ahead of the forum’s election.
El-Rufai may like have the backing of President Muhammadu Buhari and majority of Northern governors.
A source said:” Governor El-Rufai of Kaduna state and Ekiti state governor Fayemi are interested for the governors’ forum chairmanship. It will be a tough battle”
