DAILY FILE – The 28-year- old Susan Kumawuese Gbakon, has to raise hundred of thousands to continue with her cancer treatment to survive.
Susan, an orphan is a resident of New GRA Makurdi, the Benue State capital who has been attacked by lymphatic cancer since 2011.
Narrating her experience, she said after losing her parents, there is no one else to take care of her hospital bills when she approached medical experts for treatment.
“Even those who promised to foot the bill for test and treatment of the ailment at the hospital could not honour it until the cancer has grown to this level. I therefore, took my fate to the church for assistance”.
Miss Gbakon who is a holder of General School Certificate of Education (GCE) had undergone series of tests and treatments in different hospitals including Federal Medical Center and the Benue State University Teaching hospital, Makurdi but is hampered by lack of money as she was referred to a teaching hospital in Enugu where she is required to pay at least the sum of N.5million at first instance.
“When I took my case to the Catholic Youth Center Parish Church Makurdi, the Saint Vincent de Paul has been helpful in buying drugs for me. Only last Sunday, the parish Priest, Revd. Fr. Benjamin Shima Ukpanya appealed to parishners for a second collection that is currently assisting me to buy drugs”.
Miss Gbakon now lying critically ill at home said she retired to her fate and is appealing to corporate bodies, individuals and good spirited Nigerians intending to come to her rescue to send their donations to her account number: Susan Kumawuese Gbakon, Account No. UBA 20181028629.
